RBI projects CPI inflation for 2021-22 under 5%

Mumbai, Apr 07 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on April 07 announced revised projection for CPI inflation of financial year 2021-22. "The projection for CPI inflation has been revised to 5% in Q4 of 2021, 5.2%, in Q1 of 2021-22, 5.2% also in Q2 of 2021-22, 4.4% in Q3, and 5.1% in Q4 with risks broadly balanced. On March 31, 2021, the government retained the inflation target at 4% with the lower and upper tolerance levels of 2% and 6%, respectively, for the next five years that is from April 2021 to March 2026. An inflation rate of 4% over the medium term has now been successfully entranced the economic landscape," said RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

RBI retains GDP growth projection for 2021-22 at 10.5%

Mumbai, Apr 07 (ANI): Keeping current situation of COVID-19 in notice, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to retain real GDP growth for 2021-22 at 10.5%. "The recent surge in COVID-19 cases adds uncertainty to the domestic growth outlook amid tightening of restrictions by some state governments. The projection of real GDP growth for 2021-22 is retained at 10.5%," said RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

COVID update: India records highest ever spike of 1.15 lakh cases

New Delhi, Apr 07 (ANI): The COVID-19 cases continued to surge in India and 1,15,736 new cases reported in the country on Apr 07. The country's COVID caseload stood at 1,28,01,785 and currently there are 8,43,473 active cases in India . 59,856 people were discharged in last 24 hours taking total recoveries to 1,17,92,135. With 630 new deaths, death toll mounts to 1,66,177. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 25,14,39,598 samples tested for COVID-19, up to April 06. The COVID vaccination drive is underway across country. So far 8,70,77,474 COVID vaccine jabs have been inoculated.

Sukma encounter: Mortal remains of CRPF jawan brought to hometown Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh), April 06 (ANI): Mortal remains of CRPF jawan Routhu Jagadish were brought to his native place in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram on April 05. He lost his life in an encounter with Naxals at the Sukma-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh on April 3. Large number of people came to pay floral tribute to the slain soldier. In the deadly Naxals attack, at least 22 security personnel were killed, and around 32 sustained injuries in the encounter.

LG announces it's exiting the smartphone business

New Delhi, April 06 (ANI): South Korean multinational electronics company LG recently confirmed that it will be exiting the smartphone business. The company's existing phones will remain on sale, and it will continue to support its products "for a period of time which will vary by region." According to The Verge, LG said in a statement that this decision will "enable the company to focus resources in growth areas such as electric vehicle components, connected devices, smart homes, robotics, artificial intelligence and business-to-business solutions, as well as platforms and services." The company has yet not said anything about the possible layoffs due to this decision, except that "details related to employment will be determined at the local level." LG said that it expects to complete the smartphone business' closure by the end of July this year. Nearly 100 students found COVID positive in Himachal School

Chamba (Himachal Pradesh), April 5 (ANI): 99 students of a private school in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district have been tested positive for coronavirus. Moreover, some teachers and staff members have also contracted the virus, taking the cumulative figure at the school to 158. Dr. Rajesh Guleri, Chief Medical Officer, Chamba on April 5 urged 45 years age group to get vaccinated at the nearest medical center. He further directed people to follow COVID-appropriate behaviors.

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh), Apr 05 (ANI): While addressing Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Bijapur, days after Naxal attack which left 22 security personnel dead and over 30 injured, Home Minister Amit Shah motivated the jawans and also said the government will welcome those who wish to surrender, but will have no option left for Naxalites who continue fight with weapons. "When a friend leaves us and goes we do feel sad. But the poor of this area is devoid of development due to Naxal issue. We welcome those who want to surrender and come to us but we'll have no option if you have weapons in hands," said HM Shah. He added, "Government of India understands all your problems and is firmly standing with you in this fight. We will address all the loopholes as early as possible."

COVID-19: India's daily cases cross 1 lakh for first time

New Delhi, Apr 05 (ANI): India reports all-time high daily COVID cases with 1,03,558 new infections. This is the first time that India has recorded over 1 lakh cases in a single-day. Country's COVID caseload stood at 1,25,89,067 with 7,41,830 active cases. 52,847 beneficiaries were discharged in last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 1,16,82,136. With 478 new deaths, death toll mounts to 1,65,101 . Vaccination drive is underway across country. So far 7,91,05,163 COVID vaccine jabs have been inoculated.
