New Delhi, Mar 10 (ANI): Speaking on the attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on March 10 said this is 'siyasi pakhand' to gain sympathy. "This is 'siyasi pakhand' to gain sympathy. Before polls, she (Mamata Banerjee) planned this 'nautanki' after sensing difficulties in Nandigram. Not just CM, she is Police Mantri' too. Can you believe that there was no Police with Police Mantri," he said. Earlier, CM Mamata said she was attacked today while in Nandigram, where she had gone to file her nomination for the coming elections.

Tried to raise fuel prices issue in Parliament but govt didn't allow discussion: Kharge

New Delhi, Mar 10 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in national capital on March 10, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that his party tried to raise the issue of rising fuel prices in the Parliament but the government didn't allow a discussion on it. He said, "The price of petroleum products is rising day by day. Petrol prices have never been this high before. We tried to raise the issue of rising fuel prices in the Parliament but the Govt did not allow a discussion on it."

Tirath Rawat to take oath as Uttarakhand CM at 4 pm today

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Mar 10 (ANI): Celebrations began at the BJP party headquarters in Dehradun on March 10 after Tirath Singh Rawat was appointed as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He will take oath as the Chief Minister at 4pm today. Trivendra Singh Rawat had stepped down on March 09 after BJP opted for course-correction a year before the Assembly polls. Tirath Singh Rawat is a BJP MP from Pauri Garhwal.

Al-Badr chief killed in Sopore encounter: Kashmir IGP

Srinagar (JandK), Mar 10 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Srinagar on March 10, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar spoke on Sopore encounter which took place on March 09. IGP Kumar said, "We have received information that 2 terrorists managed to escape while cordon was being laid. Ganie Khwaja went for training to Pakistan in 2000 and returned to India in 2002. He was active for 5 years in Baramulla, North Kashmir. He was arrested by police in 2007 and was jailed." "He was released in 2008. From 2008-December 2017 he worked as an overground worker for militants. In January 2018, he became active again. After August 2019, he left HM and became chief of Al-Badr," he added.

Tirath Singh Rawat elected new CM of Uttarakhand

New Delhi/ Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Mar 10 (ANI): After the current political crisis in Uttarakhand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will discuss its new Chief Minister face in the legislative party meeting on March 10. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and several other party leaders arrived at party office to attend the meeting. Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat submitted his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya on March 09. While speaking to ANI, Lok Sabha MP of BJP, Ajay Bhatt spoke on being asked if he is in the race for Uttarakhand CM post or not. Bhatt said, "I have done all the jobs assigned to me to benefit the people of the state and my party. I am not part of any race."

Assam polls: CM Sonowal files nomination papers in Majuli

Majuli (Assam), Mar 09 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal filed nomination papers in Assam’s Majuli on March 09. He filed his nomination from Majuli Assembly constituency. Assam assembly elections will be held in three phases. In the first phase, 47 seats in 12 districts will go to the polls on March 27. In the second phase, 39 constituencies in 13 districts will go to the polls on April 01 while 40 assembly constituencies in 12 districts to go on polls on April 6. The counting of votes will take place on May 02.

100 saints get COVID jab at Swaminarayan temple in Gujarat

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Mar 09 (ANI): As the vaccination drive against COVID-19 is in full swing, around 100 saints at the Swaminarayan temple in Ahmedabad also received their shots on March 08. Interestingly, the jabs were given to the saints at the Swaminarayan temple where all the arrangements were done for the vaccination.
