Who is Lalan Singh?
Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, is an influential Indian politician from Bihar and a prominent leader of the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U). He won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Bihar's Munger seat with 550,146 votes out of 1,139,081 total votes, or 48.3 per cent of vote share, his main opponent Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Kumari Anita secured 41.2 per cent of vote share. Under the recently formed govt after the 2024 LS polls Lalan Singh has been appointed as the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, he also holds the portfolio of Ministry of Panchayati Raj under this regime.
