Dirk India (DIPL), which specialises in making cement replacement products with fly ash, has invested Rs 45 crore in expanding capacity at its Nashik plant. DIPL, a part of the Dirk Group, is the first fly ash recycling plant in the country and is located next to the Eklahare Thermal Power Station, 20 km from Nashik. Its recycled fly ash, which is used to replace cement, is branded as ‘Dirk Pozzocrete’.
DIPL exports 50 per cent of its production to West Asia, Africa and Asia. ‘Pozzocrete’ is a processed fly ash bearing the standard mark ‘ISI’ of the Bureau of Indian Standards as well as the DCL kite mark of the Dubai Municipality.
“DIPL has extended the recycling capacity of the Nashik plant by another 1,000 tonnes a day at an investment of Rs 45 crore. With this expansion, the total recycling capacity of the Nashik plant has reached 2,000 tonnes per day,” said Georg Dirk, chairman, DIPL while handling capacity has reached 5,000 tonnes per day,” Georg Dirk, chairman, DIPL, said at a press conference here.
The Eklahare Thermal power station, which consists of five coal-fired boilers with a total generation capacity of 910 MW, generates approximately 3,000 tonnes of Pulverized Fuel Ash (PFA), a day, depending upon the type of coal used. Of which, more than 2,400 tonnes are trapped in the electrostatic filters from where Dirk obtains its raw ash feed.
