Emami wins BS Quiz for East

One of the best questions was saved for the last in the BS Quiz (east) of Business Standard held here on Saturday.

An audio clip was played and the participants were asked to identify the person who was on the board of Wal-mart. The question by quizmaster Gaurav Sri Krishna was one of those to which most, including the audience, had no answer.

The answer was Hillary Clinton.

The quiz in Kolkata saw participation from 50 B-schools and corporate teams. Participants included Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, TCS and Emami.

Alekhya Chakrabarty and Abhisekh Chakrabarty from Emami were the winners. SAIL's Rourkela team, comprising Sampad Mishra and Divya Dash were the first runners-up and TCS's Abhisekh Das and Sudip Kalyan Dey were the second.

While the winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 25,000, the first and second runners-up got Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively. Candidates for the competition were short-listed after written tests, which threw up 12 teams that participated in two semi-final rounds. Participants were largely tested on their knowledge of business strategy and brands.

The final round saw participation from TCS, Srei Infrastructure, SAIL (Rourkela), Emami, Capegemini and and Mjunction.
