For the next 300 million people who come online in India, English or Hindi will not be their choice of language. Vernacular languages offer immense opportunities for both content and platform companies. And, the space will see huge competition in the next couple of years. It will be interesting to see how well ShareChat is able to capture the market and at what pace, while at the same time fending off competition from both messaging applications and media companies.

They have a unique product, and the only way for them to stay ahead is to expand their user base at a lightning speed. Companies like Dailyhunt have proved that driving revenue from vernacular content is possible if done with intent. So, there is every reason to believe ShareChat would be able to do the same once it hits critical mass. Sattvik Mishra, co-founder & chief executive of Scoopwhoop.com
