Drugs and chemical maker IOL Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals today said it has got permission from the drug regulatory body of Canada to export ibuprofen - painkiller drug - to that country.

It has received DMF (Drug Master File) acknowledgement letter for ibuprofen from Health Canada, Therapeutic Products Directorate, Canada, IOL Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The acknowledgement letter from the drug regulatory body of Canada would enable the pharma company to export ibuprofen to that country, it said.

However, the company did not reveal financial details of any contract to export the drug to Canada, nor did it specified about the quantity of the export.

The company manufactures bulk chemicals, such as acetic acid and speciality chemicals, including ethyl acetate and acetic anhydride under its chemical division.

Under the pharma division, the firm manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredient.

Shares of the company closed at Rs 57.50, down 1.96 per cent from the previous close on the BSE.
