Punjab to switch on new lighting system

Punjab is soon going to introduce energy efficient street lightning system in all its urban local bodies on public – private partnership basis. Making this revelation at energy service companies (ESCO) investors meet here, local Government, Industry and Commerce Minister, Manoranjan Kalia said that this is a unique initiative of Punjab. "Once successfully implemented, the state will become pioneer in introducing such efficient system of street lights," Kalia said.

Chairing the program Kalia said that before selecting reputed ESCO Company through transparent bidding process, this investors’ meet of prospective bidders has been organized to seek feedback and suggestions for preparing sound proposals.

“Selected companies would replace all street light points by using best energy saving technology. They would also be responsible to maintain streetlight points up to 10 years without any cost to urban local bodies," he said elaborating on the module.

The selected company shall recover its cost from saving of electricity bill of urban local bodies and also give some percentage of share to the local body concerned, which will be decided through competitive bidding process.

Indian and international companies at the meet included Citelum-France, Rejuv Green, Energasia, Pramod Telecom Private Ltd, Finite Energy Limited, AVNI Energy Solution Pvt. Ltd, Hitech Lights Limited, Deepakshi Display Devices Pvt. Ltd, Harshiv Urja Pvt. Ltd, Indo Powercom Pvt. Ltd, Ambicales, Alien Group of Companies, A2z Powercom Ltd, MIC Electronics Ltd, ASHI GREEN, SGS, Insta Power, RMS Automation Systems Ltd and Salzer.

The interested companies were asked to submit their concerns and suggestions in writing before October 20.

After considering their queries, request for Document (RFP) will be floated.
