| The 250 mw unit No.8 will use imported coal with a low sulphur and ash content. Total investment in the project is expected to be around Rs 860 crore and is scheduled to be completed in 28 months. |
| Adi Engineer, director, Tata Power, said the company was also planning to set up another 250 mw unit at the same location as well as a 100 mw diesel unit at Khopoli, close to the Trombay facility. |
| He said the company was planning to invest in an ultra-meg power project in the coastal belt in the state. |
| "We are right now finalising a 1,000 mw plant in the state. If we manage to procure a good site, we may look at scaling up that to 2,000 mw," Engineer said. |
| He further said work on 250 mw unit No.9 will start in three months and will be completed in 28 months. The 1,000 mw coastal plant will be completed by 2010 "" each unit will take about three-five years to complete with a time lag of seven-eight months between units, Engineer said. |
