Forty-eight-year-old Cyrus Mistry, son of construction magnate Pallonji Mistry, was not able to complete his five-year term as Chairman of the Tata Group. His father, incidentally, is the largest individual shareholder of Tata Sons, the holding company of the various enterprised constituting the group.

December 28, 2012: Becomes sixth chairman of Tata group, and the only one apart from Nowroji Saklatwala, not carrying the Tata surname.
October 24, 2016: Steps down as Chairman of the Tata Group, after Tata Sons Board votes to remove. Ratan Tata appointed Interim Chairman
