Zensar to set up IT SEZ next yr; will increase headcount by 700

Pune-based IT company Zensar Technologies is planning to set up an IT Special Economic Zone with an investment of over Rs 25 crore in the country next year, besides it would also add 700 headcount this year.     

"We have not yet decided about the location for our proposed SEZ which will be located at an area of 5-10 acres, but it could be either in north or south. It will come up early months of 2009," Zensar Technologies Ltd Global CEO Ganesh Natarajan told PTI.     

The company is in the process of identifying suitable location out of four selected states including Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh. "The IT SEZ could be in one of these locations," he said. Currently, the company has operations in Pune and Hyderabad.     

Asked about increasing the headcount, he said, "We have employee strength of 4,700 and we will increase its strength by adding 700 this year."     

Meanwhile, the company which has already acquired two IT companies of New York and Japan last year, is quite keen on buying another company in Germany or Switzerland.     

"We will go for another acquisition of an IT company of either Germany or Switzerland which will be catering to manufacturing or retail vertical and it will happen next year," he said while adding, "We have set aside $5 million for this acquisition."     

The company is also looking to set up a new office in Latin America with an aim to strengthen its support base for its global  clients.     

"We are looking at the possibility of opening our office in Chile, Al Salvador or Mexico. The new office will be opened to support our client base of the US which accounts for 52 per cent of our revenue," he said.
