The Mumbai Crime Branch today entered BCCI Chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan's house at Chennai to issue a summon in connection with the alleged IPL betting.

However, Meiyappan was not his residence when the Police team reached on Thursday afternoon.

The anxious wait by the Media since Thursday morning for the Mumbai police to arrive at Meiyappan's house came to end at around 2.20 pm. The team were made to wait outside the gate for more than 10 minutes before they were let in by security guards.

“We are from Mumbai Police department,” this is all the representatives of the team told the Media. While sources have said that they came to give summon, which was collected by the Chief Security Officer at Meiyappan's house since Gurunath Meiyappan was not at his residence.

Mumbai police also went to Coromandel Towers (which is the headquarters for both Chennai Super Kings and India Cements) in Chennai to summon Gurunath Meiyappan.

While people at Meiyappan's residence and Police team have refused to comment or speak, it was learnt that the Police have summoned the son-in-law of BCCI President to appear infront of Mumbai Police.

The rumors were spreading that he was in New Delhi along with his team Chennai Super Kings and some have said he was in Kodaikanal along with his wife and father-in-law. While attempts to reach out to Meiyappan was failed, CSK's PR agency has responded Business Standard's query stating “we are still awaiting feedback from CSK. Will share the feedback once we hear from them”.

The developments comes a day after actor Vindoo Dara Singh told his interrogators that he was "frequently in touch" with Meiyappan, which was reported by Media quoting sources in the Police. The police are now trying to verify the veracity of Vindoo's claims.

On Wednesday, Meyappan's name was all over the media after sources in the Mumbai police department have said they were probing the connection between the CSK team principal and actor Vindu Dara Singh, who was arrested on Tuesday for his connections with the betting syndicate.
