International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat) has been rated 'Outstanding' for its performance in 2006 among the 15 international agricultural research centres under the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

The rating is based on the results of the performance measurement system developed by the CGIAR and the World Bank, which takes into account how each of the CGIAR centres fared with regard to outputs, impact, quality and relevance of research, institutional and financial health, and stakeholder perception.

Outstanding is the highest rating and this entitles Icrisat for a funding support of $2.4 million during 2007 from the World Bank, the institute stated in a press release here on Monday.
