This is a direct indicator of revival. Scheduled commercial banks' credit disbursements increased by 14.6 per cent during 2003-04 compared with 16.1 per cent the year before.
 
Non-food credit increased by 17.6 per cent during 2003-04 compared with 18.6 per cent growth in the previous year. The growth in non-food credit was led by the housing and retail sectors.
