RBI Governor Y V Reddy met Chief Minister Raman Singh last night, and informed him about the decision of the apex bank to open its branch here, the sources told PTI.
The Chief Minister thanked the RBI Governor for the decision, and said it was difficult to manage the banking activities in Chhattisgarh as the state's financial activities were being supervised through the branches of RBI from Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), they said.
Reddy informed Singh that the Chhattisgarh branch would start operating in the state from January 1, 2007.
