The management of State Bank of India (SBI), Bengal circle has asked members of State Bank of India Staff Association (SBISA) to withdraw their agitations over transfers of employees.

The deputy chief labour commissioners, government of India, today intervened in the matter and directed the SBISA to withdraw all agitations and resolve the issue amicably.

“The agitation launched by the SBISA, Bengal Circle is completely unreasonable as they are violating the terms and conditions of the bipartite settlement executed by their apex level federation with the bank formulating transfer and redeployment of the bank employees,” said a press release by SBI.

The release said that the bank had the right to transfer the employees to other branches.

The members of SBISA, Bengal Circle, are irked over transfer orders of about 30 staffs to remote areas. Recently, the circle management had issued transfer orders to about 190 employees, out of which 150 have already been transferred.

“There is no validity in these transfers as they will not serve any purpose to the bank because the policy is lopsided as it ignores the needs of the branches from which the members are being transferred, and will not add any value at the remote places of posting,” earlier a press release from the SBISA said.
