Western Union, a leading provider of global money transfer services, in association with ESPN Star Sports, will sponsor two leading premier hockey league teams--Sher-e-Jalandhar and Chandigarh Dynamos--at the Premier Hockey League (PHL) for the season starting in January. | |

| In January last year, it signed a three-year contract with ESPN Star Sports. Also, ESPN Star Sports has roped in actor Jimmy Shergill as brand ambassador for these two teams. |

| The Premier Hockey League is one of the most popular hockey tournaments in the country today. |

| The league series will start from January 4 and will have seven teams from all over the country in the two-month-long tournament. |

| Also, the league will encourage regional support through PHL team bands that will be sold at Adidas outlets across the country. |

| Apart from bands, people will also be able to download features like ring tones and wallpaper to support their favourite teams. Also, the proceeds from the sale of the bands, the albums and the downloadable services, will be used to promote hockey in the state. |

| Addressing the media, Suvodeep Das, marketing head (South Asia), Western Union, said, "Western Union is aiming to encourage and revive hockey. By sponsoring two key teams in Punjab we wish to assure all of our support to bring back the glory of hockey. Last year Chandigarh Dynamos were the runners-up." |
