Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has announced five new infrastructure projects for its campus growth and renewal. All these projects will be completed in five phases and the institute will use open space to develop new infrastructure mostly at the new campus area.

These five new projects include a new academic block, the Jindal School of Public Policy, apartments for the faculty, dormitories for students, and a brand new sports complex including the IIFL Swimming Pool.

"This is an important step in the growth and renewal of our campus. We are adding these new buildings to help achieve our strategic goals while keeping true to the heritage and integrity of the campus," said Ashish Nanda, director of IIM-A.

In the first phase, the institute will build multi-story apartments for students and faculties, which will increase current housing capacity by almost 50 per cent. It will build 60 faculty houses and 400 students' dormitory. Currently, IIM-A has a capacity to home 95 faculties and 1,000 students.

The institute appointed three architects for these projects which are RMA Architects for the School of Public Policy, Arcop for faculty and student housing, and HCP for the new academic block and the sports complex.

JSW Group will contribute Rs 85 crore for development of School of Public Policy, of which, Rs 25 crore has been earmarked for the building and support infrastructure.

Sandeep Gokhale, president, JSW Group said: "For the first time, we have been associated with any educational institute in Gujarat. We hope that the school will go on to become an enduring platform in encouraging stakeholder interaction in the years ahead."

IIM-A and architects are now working on designing of new buildings and housing projects likely to complete in three years.
