IIFL Holdings locked at 5% lower circuit post spin-off; hits Rs 200 on NSE

Shares of IIFL Holdings hit the lower circuit of 5 per cent at Rs 188 on the BSE after the stock turned ex-spin off today. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the stock slipped to Rs 200 apiece, its lower circuit filter for the day after opening at Rs 210. Till 12:54 pm, a combined 64,584 equity shares had changed hands and there were pending sell orders for 9,11,397 shares on the BSE and NSE. READ MORE

Global markets check

Asian stocks tracked Wall Street losses on Thursday as the latest exchanges between Beijing and Washington signalled the heightened risk of a prolonged trade war, stoking investors’ concerns about the impact on global economic growth.

European stock futures were higher in early trade, trimming some losses after falling sharply the previous day. The pan-region Euro Stoxx 50 futures were up 0.46%, German DAX futures edge up 0.34% and FTSE futures gained 0.25%.

The Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.7 per cent and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng lost 0.4 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei was down 0.5 per cent and Australian stocks shed 0.85 per cent. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan slipped to a fresh four-month low before finding a bit of traction to edge up 0.1 per cent.

Crude oil update

Oil prices rose on Thursday after an industry report showed a bigger-than-expected decline in U.S. crude inventories, although concerns that the U.S.-China trade war will trigger an economic downturn kept a lid on gains.

Brent crude futures, the international benchmark for oil prices, were at $69.85 per barrel, up 40 cents, or 0.6 per cent, from their last close. Brent fell nearly 1 per cent in the previous session. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 48 cents, or 0.8 per cent, at $59.29 a barrel.
