Maruti launches Swift Windsong for Rs 6lakhs (on-road)

Maruti Suzuki Swift is the highest selling premium hatchback in India and now to enhance the numbers the mid-variants like the VXi and the VDi only. The Swift VXi/VDi misses out on several frills and this is one reason why it is this variant that is being offered with some extra features. The petrol version of the Swift Windsong costs Rs 6 lakhs approximately (on-road, Delhi). The diesel will be about a lakh more.
On the outside, the Swift gets Windsong decals with front and rear mud flaps. The Swift also gets an Arctic White upper lip spoiler at the rear. The Swift Windsong is available only in white colour. While the interiors too get an upgrade with seat covers, steering wheel cover, PVC floor mats, illuminated sill guard and blue colour ambient lighting.

Then there is also the Sony touchscreen system with Bluetooth, USB and aux-connectivity and reverse parking sensors. The Sony music system doesn't get any controls on the steering wheel, as those features are only available on the Swift ZXi or the ZDi. Then there is no sign of airbags or even rear wiper or rear defogger. These features are available only on the Swift Z-variants and the Swift Windsong is clearly an after-market kitted hatchback.

  It seems like Maruti Suzuki wants to clears its old stock of Swift V-variants and that why it is offering it in a limited edition as there are no alloy wheels also. The Swift comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine or a 1.3-litre diesel engine option and both are available on the Swift Windsong edition. No alterations to the mechanicals have been made. Both these engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission and there is no automatic option available on the Swift, like the DZire.
