Now that AMG has become a brand of it's own, Mercedes have retired the SLS and have developed a new car called the AMG-GT.
The Mercedes-AMG GT comes in 2 variants, standard GT and the GTS. The GT comes with 460hp and 600Nm of torque where as the GTs produces more power from the new 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 and comes with 510hp and 650Nm of torque.
What is iconic about this car is the new engine developed completely by AMG. The 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine has housed the two turbos inside the V of the engine. This allows for a shorted air intake and nearly gets rid of the turbo lag. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a newly developed seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The car still retains a similar design language of the SLS. It comes with a long swooping bonnet and a tight back end. It is a pure Grand Tourer.
The AMG GTS does 0-100km/h in 3.8s and is supposed to be a Porsche 911 killer. The car comes with an option to change the exhaust note and make it louder. AMG has given the car 4 modes, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Race.
AMG GTs has been awarded the Red Dot Design award for its amazing product design. The launch was graced by AMG brand ambassador Bernd Schneider. He is an 5 time AMG DT racing champion and has many racing titles to his name.
The brand, Mercedes-Benz has launched thirteen models in India so far. The launch of the AMG-GTs will be the fourteenth and penultimate launch of the year. Mercedes-Benz is supposed to launch one more car before year end.
