Tata Motors has launched its most awaited hatchback of the year, the Bolt. According to Tata the word Bolt means to win or victory. By looking at this hatchback it reminds us about the Zest though it is based on the Tata indica Vista platform. The Bolt will have competition from the Hyundai grand i10, Ford figo, Maruti Swift and Chevrolet Sail. The expected launch price will be Rs 4.49 lakhs to Rs 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

On the exterior, from the front it holds the typical Zest-like grille with sufficient chrome lining it. The headlights are again carried forward from the Zest to this hatchback consisting of projector lamps for more focused vision during the night drives. There are no daytime-running lamps. The roof-line seems to scoop up from front till the back and ends with a small taillights.

On the inside the Bolt is going to be holding trendy interiors while the Zest has more premium styling. The centre console consists of same Harman entertainment system. The feature list is just the replica of the Zest. Some of the features would be the reverse parking sensors, Harman surround system with a medium size screen for multi infotainment features.

The company will offer the car with the same eight variants, the XE, XM, XMS and XT in petrol and diesel variant both. The Bolt engines will posses a 1.2 Revotron engine managing to produce 85bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. While the diesel engine will be a 1.3 Quadra jet producing 75bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. We expect the diesel automatic will surely be launched by year end which will make the company to be the first one in its segment to produce diesel automatic transmission.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Mayank Pareek, President Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, With the aim to deliver the best to our customers, we at Tata Motors are delighted to launch the much-awaited Bolt, a sporty hatchback. We expect Bolt to strengthen our presence in the hatchback market, one of the most popular segments for the Indian customers. A stylish car with many segment first features, the Bolt offers global design and standards that will equally bring in new first time buyers as well as appeal to existing auto users looking for a new and exciting product in this segment. Designed and engineered by our teams across India, UK and Italy, it is the next leap under our Horizonext strategy and represents the new DNA of our passenger vehicles business, with the commitment to provide the best vehicles and experiences to excite our customers.
