The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is being led by Arvind Kejriwal, on Thursday apologised for abusive remarks made against Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde during a road show in the national capital.

The abusive comments were made by Rajeev Laxman, an MTV anchor, who is not a member of the AAP.

Laxman was helping AAP candidate Shazia Ilmi during her campaign in Delhi on Wednesday when he abused Shinde.

In a statement, the AAP said: "The party is against the use of any foul language by its members or supporters. We stand for honest and clean politics and will continue to do so. We will also ensure that such mistakes are not repeated."

"Rajeev has already realized his mistake and apologised for his remarks. He has also clarified that AAP has nothing to do with his remarks and it was his mistake," the statement added.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which has positioned itself as a crusader against corruption, is making its debut in the Delhi elections, to be held on December 4.
