Former cyclist Lance Armstrong has hit out at the hypocrisy of cycling and doping chiefs after new drug revelations were made surrounding Le Tour.

According to the Mirror, a French Senate report into the 1998 Tour de France has disclosed 18 riders, including winner Marco Pantani and runner-up Jan Ullrich, all tested positive for banned blood-booster EPO.

Although Armstrong was stripped of his seven Yellow Jerseys earlier this year after admitting he was a cheat, Pantani's result will still be valid, while five-times champions Eddy Merckx and Miguel Indurain, who both failed doping tests in their careers, were called to the 100th Tour's celebrations in Paris at the weekend, the report said.

Armstrong said that his initial reaction was that he was not surprised as it was an unfortunate era where virtually everyone broke the rules, hitting out at the hypocrisy of doping chiefs.
