A meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board is presently underway in the national capital to decide on the government formations in Maharashtra and Haryana.
The BJP top brass is also expected to take a final call on the Chief Ministers of both states in the meeting, which is being attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP Parliamentary Board will also decide on whose support the party will take for government formation in Maharashtra, where it has emerged as the single-largest party.
Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has offered outside support to the BJP to form the government in Maharashtra. However, it will be interesting to see whether the BJP decides to ally with its estranged partner Shiv Sena for government formation in the state.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, BJP chief Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are also among those present in the meeting which will also asses the party's performance in both Maharashtra and Haryana.
With the ball firmly in BJP's court as far as government formation in Maharashtra was concerned, Amit Shah earlier today kept both the NCP and Shiv Sena guessing and said that everything will be clear in a few hours.
"We never tried to break relations and alliance with Shiv Sena. BJP will decide its internal affairs," Shah added.
Hailing the BJP's unprecedented electoral performance in Haryana and Maharashtra, Shah also said that his party's mission of a 'Congress-free India' was now on track.
Terming the BJP's victory in both the states as 'historic', Shah also made it clear that the Chief Ministers in both the states would be from the BJP.
