Canada's Minister for National Revenue Kerry-Lynne Findlay, who is in India to hold meetings with Prime Minister Narendara Modi and various other ministers, to carry forward the process of engaging both countries in business, visited the Golden Temple here on Thursday.

Deeply moved by the tranquility and spirituality of the holy shrine, Findlay said, "I have said my prayers hoping for them to be answered. I have come here especially for pilgrimage."

Hailing the Sikhs contribution in the growth of Canada, she said, "In Canada, Sikhs were in judiciary, parliament and business and Canadians were very proud of them."

Expressing delight on her visit, she tweeted, "Amazing experience to visit and pray @ the peaceful, spiritual Golden Temple and learn more of Sikh heritage and history.

Talking of her trip to India, Findlay told ANI, "We were here to talk to India's new government about opportunities for Candians to do business in India and Indians to do business in Canada."

Some of her colleagues had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday night along with many more Indian ministers.

Talking of the tax treaty that India had with Canada, she said, "This week both countries had signed understandings with water resources, sharing science and technology."

"Thank-you to Gurchuran Singh and my other hosts for a solemn and significant visit to Amritsar today," she tweeted.
