A case has been filed against a nephew of former union cabinet minister Gurudas Kamat after he allegedly drove over a five-year-old girl here late on Monday night.
The incident took place in Mumbai's suburban Goregaon near the Hypercity Mall.
On Tuesday, police identified the dead minor as Lado Gupta.
The name of of Kamat's nephew was revealed as Raunak Desai. He is the son of former Congress corporator Sameer Desai.
Raunak surrendered before Goregaon Police immediately after the mishap and is under arrest.
A case has been registered against him under Section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police are awaiting the girl's autopsy reports and also the medical report of Raunak to ascertain whether it is a case drunken driving.
