China has condemned charges brought by the US against 5 army officers indicted with economic cyber-theft accusation.

The Chinese government has asked the US ambassador to assemble in Beijing over the incident and insists that the country has itself been a victim of cyber theft, wire-tapping and surveillance activities by the US.

According to the BBC, US prosecutors say the officers stole trade secrets and internal documents from five companies and a labour union.

Qin Gang, spokesperson of the Chinese Government has said that the charges against the officers were purely ungrounded and with an ulterior motive.

He added that given the lack of sincerity on the part of the US to solve the issue, China has decided to immediately defer activities of the China-US Cyber Working Group.

The FBI has issued a 'wanted' poster for the 5-army officials and further revealed that the alleged hacking was conducted for no apparent reason but to gain an advantage over state-owned companies at the expense of businesses in the United Sates.

The possible victims have been identified as Westinghouse Electric, US Steel, Alcoa Inc, Allegheny Technologies, SolarWorld and the US Steelworkers Union.
