Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely on Tuesday hit back at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) -led Government in Delhi, saying that the leak of CAG reports before the assembly session represents the mal-intention of the Delhi Government and that action should be taken against the defaulters.
"The present Delhi Government came into power promising that it would work against electricity companies. If the CAG reports are true, then they should take action against them. There is no point of being a mute spectator," Lovely said.
He said that the AAP government in Delhi should take action against the defaulters and the corrupt, whether they belonged to Congress or any other party.
"If the Congress Party has done any mistakes in the past, then no one is stopping them (AAP) to take any action whether it's against the Congress Party or the electricity companies. Whatever promises the government has made, they should fulfill them," he added.
"Releasing the CAG report before the Assembly session represents the mal-intention of this government," he said.
According to reports, the CAG has said there is scope for bringing down electricity tariffs in the national capital.
The CAG in its report stated that power discoms in Delhi had inflated their dues to be recovered from the consumers by almost Rs. 8,000 crore.
The AAP Government had earlier ordered a special CAG report of the power companies alleging the discoms were overcharging consumers in Delhi using unfair means.
