A confident Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday claimed that the Congress would not win even a single seat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain alleged that the friction between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress is the reason behind the suffering of the people of Delhi.

"Sonia Gandhi always says such things. Her party had helped the AAP to form the government in Delhi. The people of Delhi had to suffer because of the bickering between the AAP and Congress. If we had to form the government by manipulations then we would have formed the government earlier," Hussain told ANI.

"We have immense trust in the people as it is because of them that we won all the seven seats in Delhi during the Lok Sabha polls whereas both the Congress and AAP got zero seats. The people of Delhi are with us and Sonia Gandhi's speech is not going to have any impact. Congress should be grateful if they win even a single seat," he added.

Addressing an election rally in Badarpur earlier in the day, Congress president Sonia Gandhi took potshots at both the BJP and AAP, and accused them of making false promises to the people.

"The party we extended our support to, couldn't even govern state for two months, and ran away from their responsibilities. Who is responsible for this situation in Delhi? It's the party who ran away from its responsibilities, as well as those who were imposing their own rule in name of President's rule," said Gandhi.

The elections for 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on February 7 while the results will be announced on February 10.

The major political parties in the fray have been campaigning aggressive for the polls. The campaigning ends on February 5.
