Indo-Britain ties have witnessed 'striking progress', says Cameron

British Prime Minister David Cameron has said that he had long awaited a strengthening of ties with India and added that the two countries have finally progressed in this regard.

"I have been wanting to see a strengthening of relationship for the last 10 years. I think we have have made some important progress which is very striking," Cameron said.

Cameron told the joint press conference at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) here that India was the first major country he visited as the Prime Minister and also as the Leader of Opposition.

"India soon will be the third largest economy in the world. Britain is the fifth largest economy. I think we have real potential," the British Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his part said that the endeavours to reach success are in full swing.

"In the last one year, 11 ministers came here from India... I've had the opportunity to hold talks with Cameron twice," he added.
