Kit Harington admits being 'wrong' about sexism towards men

It seems like Kit Harington wants to revise his comments about sexism.

In an interview with a leading British publication last year, the 'Game of Thrones' actor argued that women are not the only people facing sexism in Hollywood.

He had said, "I think there is a double standard. If you said to a girl, 'Do you like being called a babe? No, not really,' she'd be absolutely right. It is demeaning. Yes, in some ways you could argue I've been employed for a look I have. But there's sexism that happens towards men. There's definitely a sexism in our industry that happens towards women, and there is towards men as well."

However, now he admitted that his words were off base.

In an interview with The Guardian, the actor has clarified that the choice of words in the statement that he made in May 2016 was not right and he was instead referring to feeling objectified.

While speaking to The Guardian, the 30-year-old star shared, "I was wrong there, though. Sexism against men is not something I should have really said. I think what I meant was, being objectified. At that time, I did feel objectified, and now I've learned how to control that [by] just shutting it down. Look, I do think men can get objectified. I do feel I have been objectified in the past, sexually as well, in pieces that have been written about me."

He added: "Has that made me feel uncomfortable in the past? Yes. Do I think my position is the same as a woman's in society? No. They're very different things, and I should have separated them. I was wrong."

Earlier this month, the actor revealed during an interview that he cried upon reading the script for the final episode of 'Game of Thrones'.

Harington can currently be seen in TV series 'Gunpowder'.
