Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has expressed his delight after Paralympics runner Oscar Pistorius' culpable homicide conviction for killing his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was upgraded to murder.
Expressing his passionate response to the overturned verdict, the South African-born maverick batsman tweeted, "Cheeeeerrrriiiiio, #OscarPistorius! #BOOOOOOM," the Mirror reported.
Earlier in October, Pistorius, a double-amputee athlete, was released on parole and put under house arrest at his uncle's house after serving almost a year in prison. He will now be handed a new sentence.
However, a senior judge of the South Africa supreme court of appeal overruled the previous conviction by dismissing the athlete's claim that he pulled his gun on Steenkamp as an act of defence.
According to the South African law, the minimum sentence for murder is 15 years in prison.
