The Left Front (LF) has declared the list of candidates for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections scheduled to take place in the first week of May.

The list was announced during a joint press conference of the Left Front in presence of representatives of parties such as CPI-M, CPI, RSP and Forward Block (FB).

"Out of the total 28 seats CPI-M will contest from 25 seats and in three seats CPI, RSP and FB shall contest with one seat to each of them. They are contesting in those seats where they had contested last time," said CPI-M state secretary, Bijan Dhar.

Dhar further said that certain political parties are trying to divide the state and urged the people to cast their votes in favour of development

"It is clear that the militants today are not in that position. But this ideology and thought is being spread in other form like separate state and being propagated by visiting individual families. A section of the tribal students and youths have been derailed, moreover, the Ananda Margaees, BJP and Bengali fundamental group are also there," he said.

"In various ways a conspiracy is going on and hence we are appealing to the people of the state, especially those residing and voting in the ADC poll, that they cast their vote against all these forces and in favour of development," he added.

A total of 7, 58,554 voters comprising of 3, 83,437 men and 3, 75,117 women candidates are going to cast their votes for the 28 seats of the TTAADC.

The TTAADC came into being in 1985 under the sixth schedule of the Constitution to safeguard economic, political and cultural interests of the tribals of the state who form one third of the state's population.
