Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday demanded imposition of president's rule in Uttar Pradesh on the claim that the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party Government has consistently failed to improve law and order in the state.
Mayawati brought up this demand in the Rajya Sabha, even as BSP members raised slogans against the Uttar Pradesh Government.
Attention was drawn to the Badaun rape case and other incidents of atrocities committed against women.
The ensuing ruckus forced the presiding officer to adjourn proceedings.
Meanwhile, Parliament is also discussing the Motion of Thanks to President Pranab Mukherjee for his joint address to members yesterday.
