Now, spread bit of 'beer pate' to get a high from your sandwich!

Italian food makers have invented a new way to consume beer - by spreading it on toast.

According to Italy Magazine, the spreadable beer, 'beer pate', was created by two companies, the Rieti chocolate-maker Napoleone and Cittareale brewery Alta Quota.

The beer pate, described as "a sweet, beer-scented jelly," can be consumed with toast, as a cake filling, and with cheese or appetisers.

The makers have revealed that there are two kinds of beer spread, one which is delicate and another has a more intense aroma and stronger taste.

The pate has been made with a combination of two beer varieties from Alta Quota, Omid dark ale and Greta blond ale.

Alta Quota's Claudio Lorenzini said that many other people in Italy and Europe have tried to make a non-liquid beer, but the experiments carried out have not been successful because the combination of ingredients was not a winner.

Lorenzini asserted that his company believes that they have found the right formula with the use of high-quality products.
