India's first non-bank mobile-wallet app 'Oxigen Wallet' has been appointed as the official sponsor of the South African T20 team for the India series, starting October 2nd.
The series has been christened the 'Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela' series in honour of the two great men.
South Africa and India will face off in three Twenty20 internationals, five ODIs and four Tests on the 72-day tour.
For the series, Oxigen is launching a new marketing campaign called '#Playthehost' to help cricket fans across India to play the perfect host to the Proteas.
The four-month long campaign will communicate Oxigen Wallet's key value propositions around safety, convenience and dependability. Also, the South African cricket team will promote the brand by sporting Oxigen on the front of the jersey during T20 matches. The marketing budget set for the entire campaign is approximately Rs 99.7 crore.
"Playing the host is an effort to reinforce India's warmth and hospitality to people from across the world. The famous verse from the ancient Hindu scripture 'Attithi Devo Bhava' is the inspiration behind this 360 degree campaign," said Ankur Saxena, CEO, Oxigen Wallet.
Customers can win virtual visa services or gift cards during this campaign. Apart from this, customers will also be able to bid for autographed merchandise of their favourite players.
He added that incorporation of global players in IPL teams, have made the South African cricketers a household name, amongst the cricket fans in India. "Hence, sponsoring them was a natural choice. We would like to leverage their presence as much as possible during the T20 tour to India," stated Ankur.
Through this initiative, Oxigen Wallet aims at winning hearts through the country's most celebrated sport - Cricket in this association with Cricket South Africa. "Cricket lovers can also get a chance to meet AB de Villiers, play with them, interact with them, take them to their respective homes or travel to South Africa with them," said Ankur.
Faf du Plessis, who is currently Captain of T20, is excited at the opportunity to be playing the same role for Oxigen Proteas T20. "India is a home away from home for us and it's always exciting for us to play in front of passionate cricket fans. We spend a lot of time in India during IPL every year and are always treated to the best hospitality and cultural experiences. We have no doubt that our tour in October will be the same and are looking forward to it," said Plessis.
This the biggest campaign Oxigen Wallet has run so far. Ankur adds that cricket lovers in India will also get to bid for sports-merchandise, signed by their favourite players. The earnings of this bidding will be donated to an NGO Muskaan. (ANI)
