Member of opposition in Rajya Sabha, P.L Punia on Monday alleged that the NDA Government is pro-industrialist and called on it to exercise restraint on the demand of the restoration of Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013

A Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting took place on Monday, for primarily discussing three pending clauses, including one pertaining to the compulsory return of the land to farmers if the land remains unutilized for five years.

"15 amendments are there, out of which three amendments were remaining. Out of the remaining, government took a U-turn and agreed to all, they accepted are amendments," said P.L Punia.

"Now, three are remaining and we have kept our suggestions and they wanted agreement on them. We are in favor of the farmer and if the government wants to help the industrialists than we cannot agree with them," He added

No consensuses were achieved today and the chairmen acknowledged for requesting time for it to be taken to next winter session. This was decided by the chairperson as the discussions were taking place.

Government has been trying to end the deadlock in Parliament over the Land Acquisition Bill; no agreement took place in this session on stepping back and allowing the restoration of 2013 Law.

"2013's provision should remain; the core law was to be followed," Said Punia.

The BJP-led government took a U-turn and agreed to bring back, provisions of the UPA's land law including the ones on "consent cause" and "social impact" and other amendments brought by the government in December 2014 through an Ordinance.
