The regional National Panthers Party (NPP ) walked out of the Jammu and Kashmir State Assembly on Monday after criticising a state government report on the creation of new administrative units.

NPP legislator Harsh Dev Singh said the report of the Ganai Committee is politically biased.

"After the formation of the government, they had taken a decision in the assembly that new blocks, districts will be created. The Ganai Committee was formed, but the reports of the committee came forth and it was found that the recommendations were made on the political basis," said Singh.

The Ganai Committee was formed after looking at the unprecedented demand from different parts of the state for the creation of fresh sub-divisions and locks.

It was on March 31, 2007, during the rule of the Congress-PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) coalition government, eight new districts, three new sub divisions and 11 new blocks were created.

Singh called the report fake and demanded the rejection of the committee report with a promise to begin new exercise.

"The reports of the committee are fraudulent and absolutely wrong. We demand that the report of the Ganai committee should be rejected and a new exercise should begin so that the deserving areas should get the benefits as per the criteria," said Singh.

The Kashmir region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency, and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades.
