Nationalist Congress Party leader Tariq Anwar on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would have to succumb to the pressure put by the Opposition over the Land Acquisition Bill.
"Gadkariji's letter won't make any difference. The Modi government will have to succumb to the pressure of the Opposition," said Tariq Anwar.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Digvijay Singh questioned the silence of the Rural Management Minister over the matter.
"I do not understand why Gadkari ji is leading this campaign. Why is Rural Management Minister Birender Singh quiet?" asked Digvijay Singh.
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari accused Congress President Sonia Gandhi of misleading the country on the issue of Land Acquisition Bill.
He has also alleged that previous UPA government 's policies had resulted in unemployment and farmers' suicide in the country.
Earlier on Monday, Sonia Gandhi had said that she would be conducting a massive 'Kisan Rally' at the Ramlila Ground here on April 20 during which she is expected to target the Centre's contentious bill.
According to reports, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi would also be present in the rally.
In a rare show of strength, a united opposition of 14 political parties, led by the Congress president had earlier on March 17 marched from the Parliament to the Rashtrapati Bhawan to protest against the BJP-led NDA Government's Land Bill.
