Rajnath Singh claims BJP will emerge victorious in forthcoming polls

A confident Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that his party would emerge victorious in the upcoming assembly elections and 2014 Lok Sabha polls, and charged the ruling Congress party of attempting to divert the attention from its failures.

"BJP is already prepared to win the elections in all five states. I am confident that we will emerge victorious again in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and we will definitely form our government in Rajasthan and Delhi. As far as Mizoram is concerned, I am confident that we would win a lot of seats there," he told media here today.

Rajnath Singh said that the BJP would contest the elections on the issue of good governance and development, because the people of this country have seen the performance of BJP-led NDA government.

"And they are watching the performance of the Congress Government. If any party can deliver good governance and development, it is the BJP," he said.

Rajnath Singh accused the Congress of trying to divert the attention of people from its failures, because it cannot fight these elections based on good governance and development.

The BJP President also took a jibe at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for his public outburst against the UPA Government's Ordinance on convicted lawmakers.

"You all have seen the public outburst of Congress Vice President on the Ordinance on convicted lawmakers. I want to ask the Congress Party, if he is no sensitive on the issue of Ordinance, why didn't he raise his voice on issues like inflation, naxal attacks, corruption?" he asked.

"This is just a strategy of the Congress Party to mislead the people of the country. The Congress Vice President has also hurt the sentiments of the public," he added.

The UPA Government on October 2 decided to withdraw the controversial Ordinance that sought to protect convicted parliamentarians.

In a major embarrassment to the ruling UPA, Rahul Gandhi had earlier on September 27 dubbed the ordinance to negate the Supreme Court verdict on convicted lawmakers as 'complete nonsense', and said it should be torn up and thrown away.
