It has been reportedly revealed that Formula One legend Michael Schumacher cries when he hears his loved ones voices a year after a horrific skiing accident left him in a coma.

An Italian newspaper claimed that Schumacher is moved to tears when he hears familiar sounds.

The newspaper reported that Schumacher cries, and sometimes mysteriously, adding that the stricken racer cries when he hears his children, his wife's voice, his dogs, and further claimed that in the silence of that room, a tear runs down the legend's thin face at a known sound.

Last week fellow former driver Philippe Streiff had said that the seven-time Formula One champion was starting to recognise those closest to him, News.com.au reported.

Schumacher, who turned 46 on Saturday, is rehabilitating at home in Lake Geneva, Switzerland, alongside his wife Corinna, daughter Gina Maria and son Mick.

Schumacher emerged from an induced coma in June, and recovered enough to leave hospital in September nine months after suffering severe head injuries in a ski accident in the French Alps in December 2013, the report added.
