The Allahabad High Court on Monday asked the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh Government to file its response over the move to handover the Bulandshahr gang-rape case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The High Court heard the matter today after taking suo motu cognizance of the gang-rape of a woman and her daughter in Bulandshahr.
The matter was heard by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma.
Another petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the matter had come up before the Lucknow bench of the High Court on Friday.
The incident took place on July 29 when the mother-daughter duo, accompanied by four other family members, was dragged out of their car on the highway and raped in a nearby field.
