Warner's explosive 34 of 18 fails to help Sunrisers Hyderabad beat KKR

Australian opener David Warner's explosive 34 of 18 deliveries was the only talking point as far as the Australians contributions were concerned in the ongoing seventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, as ball dominated bat on some slow, low wickets.

Warner's knowck, however, could not help his IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad register a victory against the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knightriders. The latter came off with their fourth consecutive victory in the IPl, a seven wicket thrashing of the former.

Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 142 for the loss of eight wickets. In reply, the Kolkata Knightriders scored 143 for three, thanks to an unbeaten 39 and 25 by Yusuf Pathan and Ryan ten Doeschate respectively. Opener Robin Uthappa made 40 at the top of the order for the Knight Riders.

In an earlier IPL fixture in Bangalore, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Chennai Super Kings by five wickets.

According to news.com.au, a patient 46 from West Indian opener Chris Gayle was the catalyst for Bangalore's thrilling five-wicket success with just a ball to spare.

Set a modest 139 to win, Bangalore found scoring difficult on a slow, low pitch and it was the Gayle's maturity in a 50-ball knock that was the glue that held his team together.

Skipper Virat Kohli gave Gayle great support, the pair sharing in a 61-run partnership before Kohli was undone by the spin of Ravindra Jadeja, while AB de Villiers smashed 28 off just 14 balls to help see his team home.

The win gives the Royal Challengers some hope of making the latter stages of the tournament and, while it is a setback for the home side, they are still expected to progress.
