The winner of Poweball jackpot worth 400 million dollars cashed in his ticket in South Carolina but chose to remain anonymous.

Lottery officials said that the winner saw the 400 million dollars prize advertised at a Murphy Express gas station, and bought 20 dollars in lottery tickets adding that it was his second time playing the lottery.

According to Fox News, the winner's wife, his dog and the lottery officials are the only people who know the winner for certain.

South Carolina is one of only six Powerball states that allow winners to refuse to let their identities to be released.

The lottery officials did not make it clear whether the winner chose to have the 399.4 million dollars payout over 30 years or the direct cash option of 233 million dollars.

The Murphy Express store will get a 50,000 dollar bonus for selling the winning ticket, while the winner will pay South Carolina about 15 million dollars in taxes, the report added.
