5,834 Units of Toyota Corolla Altis Diesel Recalled in India

A component that prevents oil entering into the air-intake system will be replaced

Toyota Kirloskar Motors India has recalled 5,834 units of 10th generation Toyota Corolla Altis in the country. The recalled vehicle are manufactured in between -  June 15, 2010 to May 23, 2011. The previous generation Corolla Altis are recalled to replace a faulty component that prevents oil entering into the air intake system of the vehicle. The affected vehicle owners will be contacted either through letters or a call from the respective dealerships in the city. Moreover, the 1.8-liter petrol variants of the vehicle are unaffected in this recall, only the 1.4-liter D4-D diesel powered Corolla Altis are recalled. 

Starting this month, the Japanese automaker has also recalled 119 units of the previous gen Toyota Camry. This was under the global 1.7 lac units recall of the sedan and was produced in between - March and July, 2011 in the home country Japan, exported to India. Toyota says that the sedans are recalled to rectify a defect in the front suspension setup of the vehicle.

Over the years, Toyota Kirloskar Motors has been recalling Corolla to the workshops for some issue or the other. In its recalling spree, Toyota India has also recalled the best selling MPV - Innova this year. Recalling is always appreciated as a pre-safety move by the automakers to bring down the risk factor.
