In addition to the showcase of its highly anticipated compact sedan which was recently named “Ameo”, Volkswagen might also showcase its Polo GTI hot-hatch at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo, which will be held in Greater Noida region from 5th to 9th of February.
On the exteriors, the car will flaunt LED headlamps, dual exhausts, subtle side skirts, large alloy wheels, honeycomb grille and GTI badging on both front and rear of the car.
The interiors of the car share its seat fabric covers with the Golf hatchback and incorporates contrasting stitching. Also making its way into the cabin is a sporty, flat-bottom steering wheel and aluminium racing pedals.
The most prominent update of the car lies under its the hood. This particular hot-hatch incorporates a 1.4-liter TSI mill, which produces the epitome of perfection 192PS of power. The overwhelming power output is enough to leave Polo’s arch competitor, Abarth Punto Evo, in its own dust, as the Italian hot hatch only manages to produce a comparatively modest 147PS of power.
The powerplant will come mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission, which will ensure a 0 to 100kmph acceleration time of 6.7 seconds, capping the top speed of the car only at 236kmph. Pricing of the car still remains a subject of speculation, but it is expected that this German hot-hatch will be priced somewhere around Rs 9.9 lacs mark. Polo GTI is expected to go sale sometime in mid-2016.
