Idea Cellular gains after strong Q4 earnings

Idea Cellular rose 2.91% to Rs 144.85 at 9:15 IST on BSE after consolidated profit after tax surged 26.07% to Rs 589.80 crore on 6.51% growth in total revenue to Rs 7043.80 crore in Q4 March 2014 over Q3 December 2013.

The Q4 result was announced after market hours on Monday, 28 April 2014.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 38.99 points or 0.17% at 22,670.60.

On BSE, so far 77,000 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 3.31 lakh shares in the past two weeks.

The stock hit a high of Rs 145.70 and a low of Rs 144.05 so far during the day.

Idea Cellular's consolidated EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization) rose 8.48% to Rs 2230.20 crore in Q4 March 2014 over Q3 December 2013. EBITDA margin edged up to 31.7% in Q4 March 2014, from 31.1% in Q3 December 2013.

Idea Cellular's consolidated profit after tax (PAT) surged 94.65% to Rs 1967.80 crore on 18.08% growth in total revenue to Rs 26518.90 crore in the year ended 31 March 2014 (FY 2014) over the year ended 31 March 2013 (FY 2013).

EBITDA surged 38.78% to Rs 8333.70 crore in FY 2014 over FY 2013. EBITDA margin jumped to 31.4% from 26.7% a year ago.
