Nifty June 2016 futures trade at small premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops

The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7768.95, a small premium of 20.10 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 7748.85 in the cash market. The Nifty May 2016 futures traded at 7763.10, a small premium of 14.25 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 3.69 lakh crore, which was lower than turnover of Rs 4.01 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty gained 17.80 points or 0.23% to settle at 7,748.85, its highest closing level since 20 May 2016.

State Bank of India (SBI), Reliance Industries (RIL), Tata Steel, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Aurobindo Pharma were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the F&O segment of NSE. SBI May 2016 futures traded at 170.60, near spot closing of 170.20. RIL May 2016 futures traded at 941.90, near spot closing of 941. Tata Steel May 2016 futures traded 318.95, near spot closing of 318.

Tata Motors May 2016 futures traded at 388.90, near spot closing of 388.85. HDFC Bank May 2016 futures traded at 1142.90, near spot closing of 1142.40. Aurobindo Pharma May 2016 futures traded at 729.95, near spot closing of 729.50.

The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on Thursday, 26 May 2016. The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016
