Nifty March futures trade near spot price

The March 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7544.05, near Nifty's closing of 7538.75 in the cash market. The Nifty April 2016 futures traded at 7580, a premium of 41.25 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 1.97 lakh crore, which was lower than turnover of Rs 2.63 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty gained 28.55 points or 0.38% to settle at 7,538.75, its highest closing level since 1 February 2016.

Crompton Greaves, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, Axis Bank and State Bank of India (SBI) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Crompton Greaves March 2016 futures traded at 155.30, at a discount compared with spot closing of 156.10. Tata Motors March 2016 futures traded at 365.75, near spot closing of 365.50. ICICI Bank March 2016 futures traded at 221.35, near spot closing of 221.05.

Yes Bank March 2016 futures traded at 800.50, near spot closing of 800.40. Axis Bank March 2016 futures traded at 419.05, near spot closing of 416.50. SBI March 2016 futures traded at 182.45, near spot closing of 181.70.

The March 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 31 March 2016. The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016.
